Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons

What's Left For You and Me

It's early morning
And we ain't slept none
The hair falls from your ribbons
Down to the pearls on your skin

The granite paved the way
Copper steeples shining
We've put our time in
Livin' on pocket change

And we've roamed
We've been all over
And we've lived
Young and so simply
I'm afraid it's almost over
And I don't know what's left for you and me

The wheels on red bricks
And the callers howlin'
I see why they're shouting
They never get far from here

Plenty of pilgrims
Know the road we travelled
Two hearts in the gravel
Who will never call no place home

And we've lived
Young and so simply
Well I'm afraid it's almost over
And I don't know what's left for you and me
And I don't know what's left for you and me

In the first verse he doesn’t say “ear buns”, although that’s exactly what I made of it. But I had a chance to ask Cory about it once after a show, and he said that the lyric is “Your hair falls from your “ribbons” down to the pearls on your skin. Which makes infinitely more sense.
