Anne Soldaat (Middelstum, February 12, 1965) is a Dutch guitarist, singer and songwriter.

Biography

Soldier was born in the village of Middelstum in the province of Groningen. He grew up in Ermelo. At the end of the eighties he came into contact with Jelle Paulusma and joined his band Daryll-Ann. After the departure and later return of Coen Paulusma, Soldaat and Jelle Paulusma became the face of the band and were responsible for the music and lyrics. Both also shared lead vocals. In May 2004, shortly after the release of the sixth album Do not stop, the band unexpectedly disbanded. Soldaat then worked as a band coach for the band GEM during the making of the album Escapades. Frontman Maurits Westerik later joined the live band of Soldaat.

Anne Soldaat then founded the band Do-The-Undo, which released his only album in 2007 at Excelsior Recordings. In April 2009 Soldaat released the album In another life under his own name, followed by the album Anne Soldaat in 2012. Both albums were recorded in Los Angeles together with Jason Falkner, who collaborated in the past with, among others, Beck and Air. In 2009 Soldaat was nominated for Song of the Year with the song 'Teenage view', organized by VPRO's 3voor12. The number has ended at number 57.

In 2010 Soldaat started a collaboration with Tim Knol. He wrote songs for his debut album and second album Days. He also played in Knol's band and accompanied Knol on his albums. From 16 April to 12 May 2011, Anne Soldaat sang and played guitar in 'Zout', a dance performance produced by Conny Jansen. Later this performance was also shown in the Juliet tent at Lowlands 2011. Between December 2013 and September 2014, Daryll-Ann played a number of reunion performances. Also the old material of the band was reissued. In 2014 the album Al I published it myself from Clean Pete, which was produced by Soldaat and Falkner. Soldier also accompanied the duo during various performances.

At the beginning of 2015 Talks little, kills many appeared, the third official solo album of Soldaat.
